Help us get our tech just right
Over time we’ve learned a thing or two about helping our customers. And while money is important it’s not what matters most. It’s the connection we share and the relationships we build. And that’s why we do things a little differently. Today, we have more than 35,000 people serving 10 million customers at more than 800 locations in Australia, New Zealand and around the world.
The role will be contributing directly to the large NAB transformation and play a significant part in changing the way we bank.
What you’ll be doing
We are seeking a senior architect to join a fast-paced and dynamic environment to provide target architecture, roadmap development and design collaboration and governance oversight outcomes within NAB’s Enterprise Data domain. You will be a key player in NAB’s data-led transformation.
NAB is currently investing in a strategic Data and Analytics platform. The Senior Architect- Data Lake’s responsibility is to architect NAB’s data lake which is at the center of Nab’s Data and Analytics strategy. The data lake will become the single strategic platform for all enterprise data. You will be joining a newly established team of highly skilled technology architects who will define a new and sustainable data capability that is aligned with NAB’s IT strategy, will enable a great banking experience to our customers, as well as deliver to a variety of internal and external stakeholder needs.
You will develop and maintain a service roadmap and use this to influence feature backlog grooming and to provide architecture input into prioritisation and sequencing of backlog items.
You will also provide technical direction and leadership to the delivery service team(s) across the technology lifecycle, and will provide architectural governance and oversight as solutions evolve.
Who you’ll be working with
In this role, you’ll support the enterprise to develop, communicate and execute an architecture that delivers a data lake service to support the Nab enterprise.
An important part of the job will be to ensure our senior technology stakeholders understand key architectural implications across application, information, infrastructure and security aspects of the service. Some of these stakeholders will include (but are not limited to), Heads of Architecture, General Managers and Heads of Technology.
You’ll also work with lead members within the Technology Service teams as well as project managers and members on key initiatives.
You will build relationships with stakeholders across Technology and Business areas.
What we need from you
We are seeking a Senior architect to join a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will have broad experience across numerous architecture roles. You will have specific experience in roadmap development and execution, as well as architectural and technical leadership and governance of design and engineering teams.
You will have a strong history in data architecture and experience with software development in the data space (data lakes, big data systems, building automated data pipelines, data warehousing on cloud, metadata integration, data catalogues). A background in enterprise data services within a complex organisation and financial services, as well as experience working with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) will be highly regarded. You will also have worked with some of the open source technology stack in a complex delivery program, and be fluent in micro-service and API based technologies and architectures.
You need to provide strategic advice, conduct successful consultations and deliver to projects across different areas of the business – so strong communication and negotiation skills are extremely important.
Our technology departments are agile, fast-paced, which means you’ll need to be able to think on your feet and adapt quickly.
Sound like your sort of role?
We have positions available in Melbourne – so if you think you’ve got what it takes, we want to hear from you. (You need to be a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold an Australian permanent residency status to apply.)
