The Commonwealth Bank was founded under the Commonwealth Bank Act in 1911 and commenced operations in 1912, empowered to conduct both savings and general banking business. At CommBank you can be you!    Our Team We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) Team, which will support our GLS (Group Lending Services) and Retail Credit Decisioning (RCD) businesses within Group Operations.  The vision for the Business Insights & Analytics team is to reinvent the financial services industry through world class analytics. We aim to do this by delivering strategic insights that are visually intuitive and that empower our leaders to make data driven decisions; we develop resource management strategies that drive process efficiencies; and we utilise advanced analytics techniques to predict events and recommend optimal decisions. We have some of Australia’s leading analytics and data scientists, and work hard to create an environment that feels more tech than corporate.   What You’ll Do Supporting Business Leaders – Embedding analytics in everyday business and providing deep insight to enable data-driven decision-making. Seen as a trusted advisor and pre-empts the needs of the business to ensure smooth operations. Delivering Insights – Delivering relevant and effective analytical models and insights in a timely manner.  Ensure insights are actioned by following up with relevant parties involved. Innovate and optimise – Providing proactive technical and business optimisation solutions for complex/simple business problems. Supporting the Manager – Ownership and accountability of project activities that support a required strategic outcome. Demonstrates comfort with ambiguity and helps determine the desired analytical approach and solution. Proactively manages activities to adhere to project deadlines and escalates any issues to relevant stakeholders. Clear and consistent communication – Effectively presents in various internal forums to key stakeholders (e.g. demos, presentations). Able to present information in meaningful, creative ways that builds the team brand. Lifts own capability – Assists in the development of new analytical solutions and application of advanced techniques. Identifies opportunities to improve own capabilities and demonstrates creativity and ingenuity when tackling complex problems. Strong collaboration and team work – Thrives in highly collaborative team environment. Seeks guidance and offers suggestions to create the best outcome for stakeholders and customers.   What we are looking for: At least 18 months of experience  in applying analysis to solve business problems Ability to generate actionable value-add insights from complex data using tools Ability to proactively manage own activities and projects with high levels of autonomy Ability to translate data analytics into commercial insights and work with the business to drive and embed change Experience with large datasets and data analysis tools such as SQL (Essential) Experience in data visualisation of complex relationships (e.g. in Tableau) Exposure to data analysis tools such as Teradata, R, SAS, SPSS, Hadoop, Python Knowledge of Financial Services industry and/or Banking Operations Desirable Knowledge of Financial Services industry and/or Banking Operations Programming skills in R, Java, C++, Python, Ruby or Scala   You You are an analytics and risk professional with a love of data and a passion for analytics.
